As a Landlord, you'll need an Electrical Installation Condition Report (EICR) which is an electrical safety test at least every five years by a person who is qualified and competent.
While portable appliance testing (PAT) isn't a legal requirement, it's a good way for landlords and business owners to ensure that all their electrical equipment follows HSE guidelines.
We can help with any installation, from a new light fitting or socket to wiring in a new home/extension.
When you instruct Atkinson-Cross to carry out an EICR on your domestic or commercial property, we first work out a time and date that works for both you and us. Once that has been agreed, we will attend on the agreed date at the agreed time. We then get started with the inspection of the installation, making notes on what we find and start filling out the basics of the certification. The next step is to start the testing of the installation using our top-of-the-range Multi-function Megger Test equipment.
An EICR is an Electrical Installation Condition Report, a full inspection and test of the fixed wiring installation within a property or premises.
An EICR can either be Satisfactory or Unsatisfactory depending on the findings of the inspection and testing. The results of the findings are coded using a series of codes, C1, C2, C3 and FI.
C1 = Immediate danger present
C2 = Potentially Dangerous
C3 = Improvement is recommended.
FI = Further Investigation is required.
If the report contains C1, C2 or FI’s, it will be listed as ‘Unsatisfactory’. Following an unsatisfactory EICR, we will outline and explain clearly all of the issues found, why they are coded the way they are and what the repercussions of the issues could be. We also supply a quote for Atkinson-Cross to rectify the issues found. There is no retest fee if you use Atkinson-Cross to carry out these works.
If the EICR is satisfactory, no further action is needed. If there are C3’s on the report, we will explain them, explain why it is still satisfactory and why the improvement is recommended.
